Stevedoring Workforce Analysis and Future Transformation Support

This project will support the stevedoring industry by examining how automation and emerging technologies are reshaping the workforce. It will identify changing skill requirements in Australia’s landside port operations, map transferable skills and transition pathways, and assess the suitability of current training products to ensure the VET system meets future industry needs.

Strategic Workforce Planning Committee

Industry Skills Australia has established a Strategic Workforce Planning Committee for each major industry to sit at the heart of the Jobs and Skills Council. Comprising of senior industry leaders, these Committees are the central mechanism through which industry is empowered to identify its immediate and emerging priorities and the responses needed by the national skills system, industry and governments.

The Committees work on behalf of industry to shape and oversee the development of the national Workforce Plan and annual updates based on intelligence and consultation with key stakeholders from across Australia. The Transport & Logistics Strategic Workforce Planning Committee was established in November 2023.

Industry Engagement Manager

Chris Greentree

Chris has more than 20 years of experience working across vocational education, workforce development, and industry engagement. He has built strong partnerships with industry, government, training providers, and workforce stakeholders to help address skills challenges and support workforce capability across a range of sectors, including transport and logistics, automotive, manufacturing, and emerging technologies.

Before joining Industry Skills Australia, Chris held several leadership roles within TAFE NSW, where he led workforce capability initiatives and industry engagement activities aligned to government priorities and industry needs. His experience in workforce planning, stakeholder engagement, and skills development provides a strong foundation for supporting the transport and logistics sector to identify future workforce challenges and opportunities. Chris is passionate about connecting industry insights with practical workforce and training solutions that deliver long-term benefits for employers, workers, and the broader economy.
