What it means for industry
This project will help ensure the stevedoring workforce and national skills system remain adaptable and future‑ready by:
- Identifying and validating new and emerging technologies and automation likely to impact stevedoring roles in Australian ports.
- Identifying career and associated learning pathways that could enable transition into other high-demand Transport Supply Chain Industry jobs.
- Improving understanding of how technological change affects stevedoring work and skills
- Identifying skill and training gaps to inform future nationally endorsed training products
The findings may also inform a separate project to fast-track updates to the TLI Training Package, enabling stevedoring training that addresses changes in automation, technology, and contemporary operating environments.
