About the project

Project overview

This project enabled greater access to training and a learning pathway for furniture removal workers to gain accredited qualifications with skills that are highly transferable to a range of vocations across Supply Chain sectors.

The Certificate II and III Furniture Removal qualifications have been deleted, whist the Units of Competency applicable to furniture removal were updated to include current industry practices and integrated into Supply Chain Operations and Driving Operations qualifications.

The creation of flexible and formal pathways provides employers with improved accredited training options to skill their workforce and assist attraction, skilling and retention strategies. This will also increase access to a greater range of RTOs for training delivery.

Consultation and feedback

Public Consultation – Third Round

During this additional consultation period, we are seeking your feedback on the inclusion of the occupational field of ‘Furniture Removal’ which is being added as a specialisation to the TLI30321 Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations. The addition of this specialisation stream will result in the qualification being recoded to TLI30325 and determined ‘Not equivalent’. As previous Furniture Removal qualifications will be discontinued the essential furniture removal units need to be integrated into other aligned qualifications to enable access to training and a learning pathway for furniture removal workers. 

The products included in this project have been drafted by Industry Skills Australia in collaboration with a Technical Committee of subject matter experts and will enable furniture removal workers to gain accredited qualifications and skills that are highly transferable to a range of vocations across Supply Chain sectors.

All products involved in the project are available for viewing below, but feedback is only required on changes to the Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations as outlined above.

Draft training products aimed at enabling greater access to training and a learning pathway for furniture removal workers have been revised and Industry Skills Australia would like your feedback.

The products, drafted by a Technical Committee of subject matter experts, will enable furniture removal workers to gain accredited qualifications with skills that are highly transferable to a range of vocations across Supply Chain sectors.

Units of Competency applicable to furniture removal have been updated to include current industry practices and integrated into Supply Chain Operations and Driving Operations qualifications. Whilst the Certificate II and III Furniture Removal qualifications are proposed for deletion, feedback from stakeholders on the initial drafts has resulted in a proposed update to the Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations to include a Furniture Removal specialisation.

The Transport & Logistics Furniture Removal Technical Committee (TC) was established in August 2024.

Skills Ministers have endorsed updated training products which enable furniture removal workers to develop skills that are highly transferable to a range of vocations across the Supply Chain sectors.

With support from the Australian Furniture Removal Association (AFRA) and industry stakeholders, a review of the Transport and Logistics Training Package has resulted in the removal of two underutilised Furniture Removal qualifications whilst retaining and embedding six specific furniture removal Units of Competency into Supply Chain and Driving Operations qualifications. These qualifications are delivered widely and offer workers greater access to training delivery, along with a more portable qualification.

The six furniture removal units have been updated to reflect current industry practice and have been added as general electives in four TLI qualifications. One qualification, the Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations, includes a Furniture Removal specialisation stream.

The training products were developed by a Technical Committee of subject matter experts, in consultation with industry stakeholders throughout the life of the project to ensure they meet the needs of industry.

What does this mean for industry?

The endorsed training products strengthen formal training pathways, assist the attraction and retention of the furniture removal workforce, and enhance mobility and career progression for workers through consistent, nationally recognised skills.

What does this mean for Registered Training Organisations?

The training products are included in Release 16.0 of the Transport and Logistics Training Package. Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) will need to update their training resources to reflect the revised training products and new codes. AFRA are developing resources for the Units of Competency to assist RTOs in the delivery of the qualifications and will provide subject matter experts to further support trainers and assessors.

To support the delivery and implementation of the revised training products, the Companion Volume Implementation Guide (CVIG) has been updated to assist assessors, trainers, RTOs and enterprises. The CVIG contains comprehensive list of all products in the Training Package; including mapping information which details the changes that have been made to the training products; implementation advice, and useful links to other information.

ISA conducted a webinar for stakeholders to explain the changes and provide advice on implementation.

The endorsed Training Package products are now available on training.gov.au National Training Register – TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package.

Finalisation and submission

Submission

Industry Skills Australia (ISA) submitted the final draft training products for the Furniture Removal Project to the Assurance Body for approval. The products aim to enable furniture removal workers to gain accredited qualifications and skills that are highly transferable to a range of vocations across Supply Chain sectors.

The revised products include deletion of 2 qualifications and updates to 4 qualifications, 6 Units of Competency and 2 Skill Sets.

The Units of Competency specific to furniture removal have been updated to include current industry practices and integrated into Supply Chain Operations and Driving Operations qualifications. One unit has been updated in a fourth qualification in Road Transport Terminal Operations.

The revised products will be included in the Transport and Logistics Training Package Release 16.0.

The reviewed training products were due to be submitted to the Assurance Body by 30 March 2025.
