What did this mean for industry?
The new Airborne Operations qualifications provide a modern, nationally recognised training pathway for a wider range of airborne crew roles. By broadening the scope of the qualifications beyond specific aircraft types and job titles, the training products improve accessibility to accredited training and support workforce mobility across aviation, emergency response, border protection and defence sectors.
The updated qualifications help ensure workers develop skills that are transferable across different operational environments, supporting career progression and a more flexible workforce.
What did this mean for Registered Training Organisations?
The revised training products were included in Aviation Training Package Release 11.0., requiring Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to update their training and assessment resources to align with the new qualification titles, codes and requirements.
To support implementation, the Companion Volume Implementation Guide (CVIG) was updated with mapping information, implementation advice and supporting resources for trainers, assessors, RTOs and industry. These materials assist training providers in understanding the changes and transitioning to the revised products.
The endorsed training products are now available on training.gov.au.
