Workforce Australia – Level Up Industry Tour at Alstom
On 17 February, Carly Grigg our Industry Engagement Manager attended the Workforce Australia – Level Up Industry Tour at Alstom’s West Melbourne site. The event provided job seekers with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insights into Alstom’s service and maintenance operations, explore potential career pathways, and understand the company’s commitment to workforce development.
As a leader in rail transport, Alstom delivers sustainable infrastructure solutions across Australia and New Zealand, enhancing passenger experiences across both rail and tram networks.
The site visit welcomed 13 job seekers, offering them a close-up view of daily operations within Alstom’s facilities. The visit was particularly beneficial for individuals seeking a career transition, as it highlighted potential apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities within the company. Seeing the workplace in action provided attendees with valuable insights into the skills, training, and career development pathways available in the rail sector.
Discussions highlighted the need for broader training opportunities to support long-term career growth. Alstom is committed to developing entry-level roles, upskilling its workforce, and providing professional development programs.
A key takeaway was Alstom’s dedication to supporting women in the rail industry through training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
The tour was a great example of how industry leaders, government initiatives, and training organisations can work together to strengthen workforce capabilities. Special thanks to Danielle Price, Jacqueline Dunbar, and the Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT) Group Australia for their efforts in promoting career development and workforce inclusion.
