Farewell to a Remarkable Leader, Tony Wilks Steps Down as Chair of the ISA Board

It is with heartfelt gratitude and admiration that we bid farewell to Tony Wilks, who is stepping down from his role as Chair and Independent Director of the ISA Board. Tony’s contributions over the past decade have been invaluable, leaving an indelible mark on the organisation and the industries we serve.

Tony’s journey with ISA stretches back more than 10 years, encompassing earlier workforce and skills programs for the transport and logistics industries, and playing a pivotal role in guiding the organisation through its establishment as Jobs and Skills Council (JSC). His dedication, insight, and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the ISA into what it is today.

Since taking on the role of Chair, Tony has brought a steady hand and a forward-thinking approach, steering the organisation with strategic vision and unwavering commitment. Reflecting on his time, Paul Walsh, CEO of ISA remarked, “Tony has not only been a Director and Chair; he has been a mentor to fellow Directors and myself.”

Tony’s extensive career is a testament to his expertise and passion. With senior roles spanning maritime and shipping, road transport, logistics, and the mining and resources industries, he has brought a wealth of experience to ISA. Beyond his professional endeavours, Tony has demonstrated a profound commitment to his community in Northern Tasmania, particularly in addressing youth unemployment—a cause close to his heart.

As Tony steps down, we extend our deepest thanks for his years of service, mentorship, and the transformative impact he has had on ISA. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting legacy, and he will be greatly missed.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce that Mr. Jon Northorpe, who has served as an Independent Director of the Board for many years, has been appointed as the new Chair of the ISA Board. With his own impressive background and expertise, Jon is well-equipped to lead ISA into its next chapter.

As we bid farewell to Tony and welcome Jon into this pivotal role, we remain steadfast in our mission to strengthen the supply chain sector and deliver meaningful outcomes for the industries we serve.

Thank you, Tony, for your exceptional contributions, and welcome, Jon, as we continue building on this legacy of leadership and progress.
