All Purpose Transport's Training Program Shaping the Future of Workforce Development

Minister for Skills and Training, Andrew Giles, Treasurer Jim Chalmers, and Rowan Holzberger, Labor candidate for the Ford electorate, visited All Purpose Transport recently to learn more about their innovative workforce training program. The visit highlighted the success of partnerships between industry, training providers and government in strengthening workforce capabilities.

Camilla Elmes, ISA’s Transport and Logistics Industry Engagement Manager, attended the visit, where Paul Kahlert, CEO of All Purpose Transport, outlined the program's development and impact. This initiative, created in collaboration with Industry Skills Australia’s predecessor, the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC), ensures every worker has the opportunity to achieve a Certificate III level or higher qualification.

The program also includes career progression and training pathways, supporting workers to advance into higher-level roles. By prioritising upskilling, the business has achieved notable outcomes, including improved workforce attraction and retention, meaningful and rewarding employment opportunities for workers, and increased productivity and commercial viability.

Industry’s partnership with training providers along with access to funding for training have been vital to the program's success. These collaborative efforts demonstrate how tailored training initiatives can enhance workforce development and create long-term benefits for businesses and employees alike.

With a significant media presence, the visit emphasised the importance of workforce development in ensuring the transport and logistics sector remains a critical driver of economic growth.
